Refund and Cancellation Policy

Effective 7 October 2026 · Version 1.1.0

Exactly when you get money back on Jara, how much, and how long it takes. This policy is part of our [Terms of Use](/terms).

1. The short version

Price dropped? The difference comes back to you automatically. Group didn't fill under "cancel and refund everyone", or the seller cancelled? You get 100% back, including delivery. You cancelled your own order? You get back what you paid minus Paystack's fee (about 1.5% + ₦100). Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with.

2. When a group's price drops

In a group deal you pay today's price, which is the price with you included. If more people join and the price drops, everyone pays the final price when the group closes. If you paid more than the final price, we refund the difference automatically, for every unit you bought. You don't need to ask.

Example. You paid ₦25,000 each for 2 bags. The group closes at ₦23,000. You get back (₦25,000 − ₦23,000) × 2 = ₦4,000.

This also applies if the group closes short of its target under the "sell to whoever joined" rule: everyone pays the price level reached, and anyone who paid more gets the difference back.

3. When a group doesn't fill

The seller chooses one of two rules for each group deal, and it is shown before you pay:

  • "Sell to whoever joined": the deal goes ahead at the price level reached. You pay that price, and any difference comes back to you (section 2).
  • "Cancel and refund everyone": the deal is cancelled and you get 100% of what you paid, including any delivery fee. Our payment partner keeps its fee on every refund; we cover it, not you and not the seller.

Buy-alone orders on a group deal are not affected when the group fails: they go ahead (section 6).

4. When the seller cancels

If the seller cancels a deal, every buyer gets 100% of what they paid, including any delivery fee and buy-alone orders. The seller covers the payment fees on those refunds.

A seller can cancel at most 5 deals in a calendar month (Lagos time), and cannot cancel a deal once any order on it has been marked delivered.

5. When you cancel your own order

You can cancel your order in these cases:

  • Group deal: while the group is open, and only while your leaving does not raise the price for the others. If leaving would move the group down a price level, you can't cancel; the app shows you why.
  • One-buyer item: within 1 hour of paying.
  • Buy-alone order: within 1 hour of paying, while the deal is still open and before the seller marks it delivered.

When you cancel, you get back what you paid minus the payment fee on your payment. Our payment partner keeps that fee when a payment is refunded. With Paystack it is about 1.5% + ₦100 (no ₦100 on payments under ₦2,500), capped at ₦2,000. With Bachs (card payments) it is about 2%. The app shows you the exact amount before you confirm.

Example. You paid ₦24,000. The payment fee on that payment (through Paystack) was ₦460. If you cancel, you get back ₦23,540.

If the fee would take the whole amount (very small orders), you can't cancel.

6. Buy alone

A buy-alone order is final at once at the single-buyer price. It does not get a price-drop refund, even if the group's price later drops. It goes ahead even if the group fails. It is refunded in full only if the seller cancels the deal, and you can cancel it yourself only as described in section 5.

7. Payments that arrive too late

Unpaid checkouts expire after 30 minutes. If a payment reaches us after the deal has closed, been cancelled or changed, or after a one-buyer item has already been sold, we can't accept it. We refund it in full, automatically.

8. How and when refunds arrive

  • Refunds are sent through the payment partner you paid with (Paystack or Bachs), back to the card or bank account you paid with.
  • Price-drop and failed-group refunds are sent shortly after the group closes. Cancellation refunds are sent shortly after you or the seller cancel.
  • Your bank usually takes 3 to 10 working days to show the money. This timing is set by the banks, not by us.
  • Some bank transfer and USSD payments can't be refunded automatically. If so, the app asks you for a bank account, checks the account name with you, and sends the refund there.
  • Your order in the app shows each refund and when it was sent.

9. Problems with the goods

If goods are not delivered, not as described, damaged, unsafe or expired:

  1. Tell the seller and us within 48 hours of delivery or pickup (or of the agreed delivery time, if nothing arrived).
  2. Include your order, what is wrong, and photos where you can.
  3. Contact us at support@jaracircle.com. We reply within 5 working days.

The seller is responsible for the goods and for putting things right, for example by replacing the item or refunding you. We may help by reviewing the order record, and we may hold the seller's payout while a reported problem is reviewed. We are not a party to the sale and can't guarantee the outcome. This does not affect your rights under Nigerian consumer law.

10. What isn't refunded

  • Changing your mind outside the cancellation rules in section 5.
  • Perishable goods (such as food) once you have received them in good condition.
  • Goods you did not collect or receive because of a wrong address or phone number you gave, or because you missed the agreed pickup or delivery.

11. Chargebacks

Before asking your bank to reverse a payment (a chargeback), please raise the problem with us first. Most problems are solved faster this way. If you raise a chargeback for an order you received as described, or for money that was already refunded, we may limit or close your account and recover the amount.
